sketch: keepin’ chill with cats

call it a greeting
projecting my feelings
onto a cat with
emotions unknown
sitting there bored
while I work hard
from home
got to get my life together; Seeing, meet Believing
blame the cat’s emphatic claws for reasons that I’m bleeding
she’s as soft and sweet as grandma’s homemade apple pies are
’til the cat scratch fever’s got me begging help from Pfizer
wouldn’t choose to be apart, as I don’t want to hurt her
she’ll be first, before me, still, ‘less I succumb to murder
could’ve had a ball if I’d have once tried to surprise Her
wishful thinking one-oh-one here — long past compromise, or…?
try to offer what she wants
in her own grumbly time
headed to the vet this week
just hoping that she’s fine
days untended, days ahead,
days both long and slow
endearing fear and hissing fits
’cause objects move when breezes blow
when she sits a little while
calm and quiet, right beside
I can’t help but give a smile
I love this wee cat of mine
