zdbd – Any Way the Wind Blows

Pretty standard song; straight-forward structure, with an up-down, bouncing riff, and the bass tracking the vocal line closely. A resonant chime sound supports the chorus, and enters the verse thereafter. Bass tracking sounds great, and fills the space beautifully, affording a sense of instability, which contrasts with the professed nature of the lyrics themselves.

Otherwise, little to report – a short song with a few variations on the same main theme throughout. The guitar gets more aggressive as the song grows, from sharp, thin plinks at the start to heavy, chunking chords by the end.

I suppose this song preceded Bohemian Rhapsody by some years – I wonder if Queen ever heard it?
